Frequently asked questions

Do you take my insurance?

I am in network with Kaiser Permanente (no referral needed), Regence Blue Cross Blue Shield, PacificSource Commercial, Oregon Health Plan (OHP/Medicaid), First Choice Health, and Samaritan Health.

Do you offer telehealth? Where do you see clients?

Yes. I use HIPAA-secure video and I am happy to work via telehealth. I also meet in person at my Bend office. See online therapy across Oregon.

I've done therapy before and it didn't help. Will this be different?

Many of my clients come to me after other therapy didn't give them what they hoped for. We'll talk about what has and hasn't worked, then use a deeper, attachment-based approach built on safety and trust, with IFS and EMDR when they fit. I can't promise a result, but I will go at your pace.

How much does therapy cost without insurance?

$200 per session, with a few sliding-scale spots available.

What happens in the first session?

The first session is a structured assessment, not just a conversation. We talk about what brought you in and what you want to change, and I also ask about your history, symptoms, and current stressors. Insurance requires me to gather enough background to make a diagnosis so that I can keep seeing you under your plan, so I may ask more detailed questions than your intake forms cover. I will explain why I am asking, and you never have to share more than you are ready to.

How often will we meet, and for how long?

Usually weekly, at the same time each week. Length depends on your goals. Some people come for a few months and others longer.

Do I have to talk about everything that happened to me?

No. EMDR and IFS let us work on trauma at a pace that feels safe, without reliving every detail.

What is Internal Family Systems (IFS)?

A way of understanding the different parts of us, like the critic, the protector, or the part that shuts down, and helping them work together instead of against you.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) for couples?

A research-supported approach that helps partners understand the emotional cycle they are stuck in and build a more secure connection.

What if only one of us wants couples therapy?

That is common. Contact me and we can talk through your options.

Do you see couples who are unsure about staying together?

Yes. We can work toward clarity whichever way it goes.

Where do I find intake forms, the client portal, and directions to the office?

Everything for new and current clients is on the client resources page: intake forms, the client portal for appointment times and copays, recommended books, and photo directions to the office.

Do you offer couples intensives?

Yes, in Bend, scheduled around your availability. See the intensives page.
